Adult Learning and Literacy Division
To provide planning and research activities in all policy and program
jurisdictions of the Department regarding post-secondary education and training
and to develop strategies to advance adult learning and literacy in the
Province.
Services
- Conduct research and statistical analysis, and monitor trends related to
post-secondary and training/adult learning policy positions and issues.
Research projects include CareerSearch, Post-secondary Indicators, and the
provincial Transfer Guide
- Represent the department and support the minister and executive on
federal, provincial and territorial committees and forums.
- Provide support to the Council on Higher Education and oversee the
implementation of the White Paper Action Plan.
- Coordinate planning and advancement of adult literacy through the
provincial Adult Literacy Grants program, the provincial Adult Basic
Education (ABE) program, the Strategic Adult Literacy Plan, and the
Successful Transition to Post-Secondary Scholarship program.
- Participate in interdepartmental initiatives, such as the Healthy Aging
Strategy and Poverty Reduction Strategy.
