Advanced Studies Branch
The Advanced Studies Branch has five divisions within the department:
Responsibilities
The branch provides:
- oversight of the public and private post-secondary education in the province, including institutional and industrial education;
- support to the Council on Higher Education;
- policy development;
- student financial assistance;
- skills development;
- coordination of planning and advancement of adult literacy; and,
- Adult Basic Education
Services
- administering provincial and inter-provincial Red Seal examinations
- registration and certification of apprentices
- curriculum development for apprenticeship training and Adult Basic Education
- regulation of private training institutions
- student financial assistance
- post-secondary data analysis, research and policy development; and,
- participation on provincial and pan-Canadian committees
