Fisheries Workforce Adjustment Service
Advanced Education and Skills is responsible for establishing fish plant worker service sites in
communities designated by the Provincial Fisheries Ministerial Committee. Advanced Education and Skills
partners with stakeholders to co ordinate the development and management of
labour market adjustment measures and services to support displaced plant
workers make a transition to other employment. The role of these sites is to
establish a single point of entry for all provincial, federal, and
community-based programs and services to assist displaced plant workers.
The types of services that are offered to support displaced plant workers
include:
- Individual career planning, assessment and counseling
- Job Search Assistance, including job search techniques, resume writing
and interview skills
- Access to Labour Market Information
- Information on provincial and federal funding programs and services
- Assistance with accessing skills development training under the
provision of the EI Program
- Access to the Internet
