1. Where can I get help with choosing a career?

You can access the variety of career decision-making information available on our website.

You can also find the career development and employment planning services that are available through a local Advanced Education and Skills Office or a Career Work Centre located in each region of the province.

The LMIworks.nl.ca website provides information and resources to assist you in the process of choosing a career path, considering a career change or attempting to maintain employment.

Information and assistance with locating career assistance services is available though contact with the Labour Market and Career Information (LMCI) Hotline .

2. I am on Income Support and have not worked for years. I want to work again but I do not know where to start.

Staff of Career, Employment and Youth Services (CEYS) are available to help you with job search and reconnecting to employment. To speak to someone about job opportunities contact a local Advanced Education and Skills Office or visit a Career Work Centre.

3. I am a single parent. I want to continue with post-secondary education but I am “stuck” because I am in default of a student loan. Can you help?

A staff person with Career, Employment and Youth Services (CEYS) or with a Career Work Centre can talk to you about the programs and services available to help with post-secondary education.

If you are receiving (or eligible for) Income Support you can contact CEYS at a local Advanced Education and Skills Office.

4. I need a job. Can you help?

Wage subsidy programs are available to assist employers in offering work experience and employment to you. These programs vary in length, duration and type of subsidy. You can use these programs in your job search by bringing them to the attention of employers.

You can also find information on wage subsidy programs available through Career, Employment and Youth Services (CEYS) at a local Advanced Education and Skills Office or at a Career Work Centre.

5. Does your department provide any financial assistance to community agencies?

Support may be provided to community agencies that offer employment and career services. For more information on what is available contact a local Advanced Education and Skills Office or visit a Career Work Centre.

6. I am an employer. What programs and/or services do you have that can help me with recruiting new staff?

Our staff can help match the skills and qualifications of individuals on Advanced Education and Skills' file with what you may be looking for. If you are an employer, you may be eligible for a wage subsidy under one of the many Employment Programs offered through Career, Employment and Youth Services (CEYS).

7. I am a youth looking for summer employment to help pay for post-secondary education. Where can I receive help?

If you are a high school student or post-secondary student Career, Employment and Youth Services (CEYS) can provide you with employment information and opportunities through various paid and volunteer placements. For information on programs and services for, check Students and Graduates or visit a Career Work Centre.

8. I am a post-secondary student looking for a work-term, and also will be looking for employment after I graduate. Can you help?

Career, Employment and Youth Services (CEYS) can help you with finding a work-term by creating links with employment leads and identifying opportunities for employment through Students and Graduates.

If you are a recent post-secondary graduate, a wage subsidy program titled the Graduate Employment Program can help you with securing valuable work experience in your field of study. For information on this program contact a local Advanced Education and Skills Office or visit a Career Work Centre.
