1. Is Emergency Social Services the same as Emergency
Assistance if I am on Income Support ?
No. Emergency Social Services are provided to those affected by a community
disaster or wide scale emergency and generally impacts a significant number of
people in that area.

2. Who is eligible for Emergency Social Services?
Anyone affected or impacted by a community emergency or disaster as indicated by
the municipality.

3. How do I apply for Emergency Social Services ?
One of the services provided is Registration and Inquiry which includes the
collection and documentation of the needs of those affected by the disaster. A
referral for the services identified is then provided.

4. Is there a cost for Emergency Social Services?
No. These services are provided at no cost to persons directly impacted by a
disaster or emergency until regular sources of support and income are restored.

5. How will I know that these services are available?
Emergency Social Services personnel work very closely with your town council ,
Fire and Emergency Services- NL and the Regional Health Authority when a disaster
occurs. If required, the media could be asked to broadcast important contact
information on behalf of the municipality.
