Linkages
Who does it serve?
- Community based agencies interested in helping youth achieve their employment and career goals
- Employers (private or not-for-profit) who are able to host a job placement
- Youth - ages 18 to 30, who:
- completed a minimum Level II high school, but have not completed post-secondary education and have not made a successful transition to the labour force
Note: Youth who meet the Level II eligibility requirement, must be out of school for a minimum of 6 months prior to applying for Linkages
- are Non-EI eligible (i.e. currently not receiving Employment Insurance (EI) benefits; have not received EI benefits within the last 3 yeas; or have not received EI maternity or parental benefits within the last 5 years)
Description
Sponsor - community based agency
- monitors, administers and provides the required employment support to clients
- eligible for a 15% administrative fee
Employer (private or not-for-profit)
- hosts a 26 week job placement that is related to the youth’s goals
- eligible for a wage subsidy of up to $9.00 per hour
Note: Sponsored youth will not displace existing employees or those on lay-off, recall or absent due to work stoppage or labour / management dispute
Youth
- participate in a client-centered program which includes:
- regularly scheduled career planning workshops
- a 26 week job placement related to their employment and career goals
- a completion bonus of up to $468.00 towards cost of post-secondary education (upon completion of Linkages)
